Can someone please explain the best way to clean my DSLR?

I'm a photography noob and I've had my Nikon D5100 for about 6 months and I don't shoot with it much but I've used it enough to gathered just a bit of dust and such on it, and I'm wondering the best way to clean it? There's also a tiny bit of oil on it from my hands and face, is there a way to get rid of that? It's just a little shinier than the rest of the camera in those places. Is it safe to use a keyboard duster (the kind with the cold compressed air or something) on the outside? Is it safe to use on the inside? I've had to change the lens outdoors and there are a few specks of dust inside.
Thanks!
