Why is cash back a reason to buy a product?

I have seen a lot of tech adverts not from retailers, but from manufacturers (mainly camera manufacturers) E. G. Cannon, Nikon etc advertising cashback as a reason to buy their product. (e.g. £35). How is that appealing? Surely when you buy any product from a shop you can get cashback anyway?

Dying to buy Nikon J1 in Pink!

First: I live in Philippines and Nikon USA website store doesnt ship here.

I really wanted to buy Nikon J1 in Pink here in our country! Can any of you help me find a store that sells this color with 2 Lens? I've tried electro world but they dont sell 2 lenses. Help me please. I'm desperate. =(

EOS Canon T1i, T3, or Nikon D3100?

I have enough money to buy myself a good, decent, DSLR. I know these SLR's aren't entry-level anymore, but I just need a good starter. I just can't decide between these three because I have great offers.

First, my friend is offering me the Canon T1i w/ standard 55mm lens at $400 even. Not to mention an SD card, new carrying pack for it, lens filter, and supplied manufactured accessories.

I found a site that is selling the Canon EOS T3 at $380 w/ 55mm lens,

The same site also carries the Nikon D3100 at $430 w/55mm lens.

I need help deciding which camera to buy based on stats, performance, and handling. Which DSLR would be best for for a beginning photographer, yet still take wonderful pictures?

Well i ordered a camera online and i havent seen it but i wanted to know if the nikon d100 had a usb port so i can save the photos on there and put them into my computer.if there is not what is another way i can put them on my computer? thanks !

I bought it used out of ebay, it says like new, but apparently there is defect. What should I do? still keep it or return it? or ask for $100 off?
Added (1). Only the down button arrow key that doesnt work though.but i don't really understand camera so im scared there might be other defects i don't understand.
