DSLR Mirror? Nikon D50?

Like an idiot I just tried to clean my mirror… Hmmmmm!
Just to put me as ease the Mirror is only what I see through the lens… Not the actual photo… OK the mirror is pretty clean just a few smudges but its worse than when I started… Eventually what could I use to clean the Mirror with out smudges… Thanks

Nikon DSLR Camera Help?

So I want to get a nice camera for a photography class but I don't have a lot of money.
I learned how to use a Nikon D700 so I would like to purchase a camera that has similar functions so that I know where all of the buttons are and whatnot.
I've been trying to research it but I've been getting really confused with all the d90 and d5000 and all the random numbers.
Can someone please give me a recommendation for a DSLR Nikon camera that will be similar to the D700 but preferably less than 500$

Single point auto focus point misbehaves?

. I have Nikon D3100 and usually shoot in single point autofous mode in which case the auto focus usually chooses the central dot shown in viewfinder. But time and again it erratically chooses a point either on left or right side. Then I have to reset the shooting options and it becomes ok.
Is something wrong with my camera body? How to correct it?

I have a Nikon D3200 and I use portrait photography with my 55-200mm Non-VR DX Zoom lens. Sometime the pictures come out so sharp and crisp, others look so blurry. Im using aperture priority and focus between the eyes. I never use a tripod cause with portraits its restricting. I'm thinking because its a non-VR that its doing this. Used DSLR under 450?

I need a used DSLR under 500 to replace my aging d90. My d90 has 150k+ and i am looking to replace it with a non entry level Nikon please. Something with a AF motor would be nice but not necessary. Checked out schools camera. Dust issues should I say anything to the teacher or no?

So I checked out the schools Nikon D90 this weekend for a steelers game however I noticed when you look through the eye port I was having some dust showing up but it wouldn't show up in the pictures and in my stressed out state I used a Q tip on the censor to see if I could clear any dust which worked but there is still dust coming and going. So my question is when I turn in the camera on Monday should I say something to the teacher or just be quiet about it. I don't want to be held liable for "damages" i was going to because if your being open about it your not hiding anything but my friend said that they will say they checked it over before I got it and will try putting it on me.

Hello! I have a liking for Nikon cameras and they have superb quality and are durable. However Sony digicams are offering lots of features which Nikon is not offering at the same price. So I thought it would be wise to buy Sony.

But how are Sony's reviews? I feel that it's not durable though it offers awesome features. Durability is very important for me.
Also Sony is offering Carl Zeiss Tessar lens while Nikon is offering only Nikkor lens whatever be the price range. It's pics are really nice. I'm confused!

Should I accept an invitation to shoot a small wedding?

Photography is a hobby for me. I own a Nikon D90 and shoot primarily with my Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4D lens. I have done a few shoots for friends, but nothing like a wedding. Weddings freak me out. I have no intention of pursuing that avenue of photography. However, a friend has asked me to shoot her daughter's wedding. It is small. A last minute get married before the baby gets here wedding. It is outdoors and only 30 people will be in attendance. I believe they are just looking for simple photographs and don't want to spend the money on a professional. I have been very honest and told her I have never done a wedding and that weddings freak me out. She seems to think I will be just fine for what they need and want. I am open to doing it since it is so small. Do I take it, having been completely honest with her? If so, what do I charge? I was thinking $250 just considering the amount of time will be spent both at the wedding and in editing.

Reverse lens using Nissin Di622 Mark II? I use Nikon D5000. Just bought Nissin Di622 Mark II speedlight. Before, I used built in flash to shoot macro on reverse lens technique. I just need to set the built in flash to manual mode. Everything OK. But, when I used Di622, the camera detected that the the speedlight was in TTL mode even if I already set the Di622 to manual. When using reverse lens, if the speedlight in TTL mode, the camera unable to shoot. Anyone has experience with reverse lens technique using Nissin Di622 Mark II, please help. My camera is already in manual mode

Problems with my Nikon D3200 Bulb Option/ Battery/ Light Meter?

It is Sunday and Nikon is closed so i hope someone out there can help me.

Last night i was taking pictures outside and used the Bulb option but when i released the shutter, the camera did not stop the picture, i had to turn it off and back on to stop the picture.

The camera says that the battery is the wrong battery

After coming inside last night i tried taking pictures inside but the meter was in the "Too Dark" spot, so my images were all black. I dont understand because i had enough light, i was shooting in manual.

My nikon d3100 has trouble focusing?

i've had my camera for almost 11 months now and its still in great condition. I have no lenes for it but i am in the process of saving up a light for the camera (what jc caylen uses for his youtube videos), do you know what light you'd get for my type of camera? Anyways. A couple days ago i wanted to film for youtube channel so i got my camera ready, one problem - it won't focus on me unless i'm really close to the camera - it's super annoying because when i move a little further away (say 10cm away because i sit on my bed whilst filming) it always goes out of focus. I have fairy lights in the background and a canvas of a beach but they shouldn't be the problem. How can i get my camera to focus on me when i'm not super close to the camera. ALSO please break down things for me because i'm not smart and i'm not good with farrenheight's or AFM's etc. Thanks! No stupid answers btw…

Fuji for Landscape and Long Exposure?

I am considering swapping my Kit for Landscape and LE in order to prevent lugging around a heavy Nikon system.
I love Fuji's (X100S and X-Pro1) for general convenience and travel shooting.
I am wondering what I will lose in quality if I use Fuji for Landscape and LE (especially seascapes)?
I am tempted by the Fuji XT1 and their increasing range of lens. I currently use Lee filters and will continue to do so if I adopt Fuji.
My absolute priority is Image Quality. If there is appreciable loss I would prefer to put up with carrying the extra weight.
Once again, friends, I value your thoughts regarding pros and cons.

Lens Nikon D3100 doesn't twist all the way back?

So, I have a Nikon D3100, I have had the lens for a while now (standard one) and it's supposed to go from 55 to 18, but somehow I can only twist it to 35 and not any further back
Does anyone have any clue how to fix this? Is there like a screw or anything?

How to add black focus points to my Nikon D3200?

I just purchased a refurbished Nikon D3200 dslr and the stock Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm VR lens. I'm having problems though with the fact that I'm supposed to "see" black focal points in the viewfinder and I'm supposed to select those in order to tell the camera what to focus on. Is there a setting that I'm not seeing, in order to add those? I'm able to see the focus moving by looking at the lcd screen, as the dot moves, but it would be much more practical to have those black focal points that light up on the viewfinder. Eyeglasses with or without the astigmatism?

1. I have astigmatism in my eyes. I have this idea, less is more. If the eyeglasses correct it, it may make the astigmatism worse in the future.

one of the lens of my old glasses had none for correction, so far, my eyes are not worsening.

so i am wondering, if i should get a pair of eyeglasses which both lenses correct my astigmatism? One of the eyes has the astigmastism axis 7, does that mean it can be ignored?

Nikon D3000 Problems. Blurred and spotted?

I have a Nikon D3000 I purchased years ago. I have a spot re-occurring on the top of my photos. It's with both lenses. It occurs on the view finder as well as when I upload them to my computer.

Along with having the spot show up the left side of all my photos that I take horizontally are blurry. I'm unsure if it could be the lenses or if there is something in my settings.

If anyone could help me with this I would be GREATLY thankful.

I want to buy a second camera for when the DSLR is inappropriate?

So, I use a Nikon D4 which I love. But, recently while I was out and about… Someone tried to steal it. Of course, nothing happened… But, this has scared me a bit. I was in London.

I am not going to stop using my D4… That would defeat the purpose of buying it. But, I do want a camera that I can use when I am walking about and just blend in to the crowd… Instead of walking about with the camera equivalent of a machine gun.

I was thinking to go for either one of the Fuji x100t/s or the xt-1 (probably with the 18 or 27mm lens).

The main criteria are user-friendliness, speed, image quality and build quality.
Any ideas? Any other suggestions?

Any Nikon SLRs that actuall have room for your fingers?

Looking to upgrade my D90 but the D7100 has LESS room between the grip and the lens. Ditto the new D750. The old D300s woulda been perfect but had the stupid buttons in the way. I need room for my big fingers and I don't want to feel the ends of them touching anything. Seems like Nikon is backsliding here.

Will nikon kit lens 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 work as good as nikon 50mm 1.8g or nikon 35mm 1.8g?

Going to be taking some group shots outside early afternoon (plenty of light). Should I use 18-55 3.5-5.6, the 50mm 1.8g or the 35mm 1.8g (all nikon on a nikon d5000)? And should I go with single point focus AF or Auto area?
Probably 2-3 rows of people about 10 wide.
I'm thinking the 35mm at around 5.6 from approx 28-30 feet away, any suggestions?

Problem taking pictures with Nikon D3100?

Hi, so I recently started having problems taking pictures with my nikon d3100. Every time I take a picture, areas of the picture come out pink. This also happens when am looking to take the picture through the screen, so it shows pink even before taking the picture. I reset all settings, re-updated the firmware, and still get the problem. This happens even when I take pictures in full auto mode, it seems to happen in every mode I choose. The thing is that this never happened before so I am just wondering why it is happening now.
My suspicion is that it may have to do with exposure because the areas that come out pink are usually the brightness in the room( I don't know why they would show as pink though). I took some pictures inside a room, the walls in the room are white and only some areas appear as pink, so am not too sure if it does indeed have to do with the exposure. When I used flash, it comes out almost all pink, this doesn't make much sense since the room is too brightly lit. I have tried changing settings, resetting them, used different sd card. I don't know if it may just be an option within the settings that am missing.
Please someone help me.

Thanks. Added (1). It looks like no one is going to answer my question, but I was able to fix the problem. What I did was to focus on an area that appeared pink so that everything was pink in the lcd screen. I took a picture of it and the pink went away, can't remember if I used flash or not, I don't think I did. I don't know if this is the way to fix it, but it worked for me and will try again the next time this happens.

Dslr camera for video?

i want to purchase a dslr camera for videos. I don want to pay more then $200 dollars for the body. I could always buy lenses desperately. It DOES NOT have to shoot at full hd 1080p. I could settle for 720p or 480p… Maybe even 360p depending on the price gap.

i just want to make sure i have full control of manual focus. I don't want an auto focus camera or camcorder. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nikon D3100 Viewfinder is blurry?

Hi, so I got a nikon d3100 and for the longest time I have only been using the lcd screen when taking pictures because the viewfinder is just blurry.
I know there is a knob next to the viewfinder, but it doesn't really help as far sharpness. It looks really blurry and is really unusable as far as taking pics. The glass seems to be clean so I don't know if its just not aligned or something.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix this problem within settings or any other way.

Need some help please! Later today my family and I are going out to take some family pics. It's just going to be us so we will be using a tripod and remote shutter release. Is there a way to focus recompose while using a remote shutter release? We are all pretty tall and so we want to focus towards the top of the photos. How to use AE-L/AF-L button?

I have recently bought a Nikon D 800 Camera I also own a Nikon D5100 Camera. On my D5100 I can point the camera at a light, exposure will adjust, I can press the autoexposure lock button and the camera will lock the exposure I can move the camera and point at anything and the exposure will stay locked so long as I hold the button. On the D800 this does not work. I have pressed and held the button and simultaneously half held the shutter button and the exposure will not lock I've looked online I've checked the settings I cannot figure this out. Can anyone tell me how to properly use the autoexposure lock button on a Nikon D 800 Camera?

What does a flash cord do?

I need to use my nikon sb25 off camera for a small project. I looked into wirless transmitters, but it looks expensive compared to a cheap flash cord? I just wanted to check a flash cord is used for off camera flash?

So my setup would be my camera on a tripod, then the flash about 2ft away on it's flash stand? With the wire connecting both the flash and camera to shoot as if thr flash were in the hotshoe?

New Nikon Camera Help?

I'm new with DSLRS so bare with me.
Okay, so I got a Nikon D70s. I put the battery in (fully charged), put the compact flash card in and connected the lens but it's not letting me take pictures. When I look through the view finder and press the shutter down halfway the circle in the viewfinder turns red but when I press the shutter button down all the way nothing happens. I've already formatted the flash card. Any ideas?

Tips for photographing indoor volleyball game?

I was assigned to take photos of a volleyball game at my college. It was held indoors in the gym with florescent lights. I had some trouble with this because everything moves so fast and the lighting situation is less than ideal. I didn't use flash because it was considered distracting. I tried many shooting modes, in shutter priority and in program, but I just couldn't seem to get it right. The photos turned out dark and blurry. I know I need a faster shutter speed, but it wasn't possible with the low light. All I could think of was to bump up the ISO, but that made my images very grainy. I got a few decent shots that I am able to use, but I was disappointed in most of the other ones.

I have a Nikon D80 camera. I'm still learning about photography, so any advice for handling this tricky situation would be greatly appreciated.

I originally had my heart set on the Canon Rebel T5i, but unfortunately the AGC (Auto Gain Control) is still a problem on this model and doesn't have any clear fix to it. This has caused me to look into the models that can use programs such as Magic Lantern (Which fix the AGC problem). At first glance I really can't see much difference. Distortion with ultra wide lenses?

i went to Best buy and bought a Tamron 10 to 24 ultra wide for my D7100, a more cost effective alternative to the Nikon version i was looking at
anyway, i like the pics i take with it although i do notice some distortion, like "stretching" at the widest angles
check out the attached pic as an example, the outer parts of the pic seem stretched in a way
its not a biggie to me, i kinda like the different way it makes the pics look
but i was wondering if this was common with ultra wide angle lenses?

Will the flash noted above work with my Nikon D5000?

I hear that some flashes if they aren't compatible will ruin your camera so I just want to be sure.

External flash for nikon d3200?

I have a nikon d3200 and the pop up flash works ok, but im searching for an external flash the will hook to my camera. I am a beginner photographer at some of my local dirt tracks and their lighting is always different. Any suggestions on which flash would work best?

How to make money fast?

So I'm 13 years old and I'm saving up for a Canon or Nikon camera (preferably Canon) for photography. And I have about 150 dollars saved up right now, and I know the cheapest ones can be about 300. Are there any ways I could make money besides babysitting, house sitting, dog walking, pet sitting, or anything that has anything to do with neighbors? Because I just moved and I don't know anyone really well, and I don't feel comfortable with stuff like that. I used to babysit my neighbors child for 40$ a day and it was amazing, but unfortunately I had to move.

What's wrong with my camera and how much will it cost to fix?

So in may 2012 i bought this nikon camera at best buy i didn't buy a warranty because it was too expensive all together. Anyways about a year later i was using it and it was working fine but suddenly it wouldn't turn on i assumed it was the batteries but when i got new ones it still didn't turn on then i pressed the play button to see pictures and it turned on but i wasn't able to take pictures or turn it on or off with the on button. It still looks new i always keep it in its protective case so it couldn't have gotten damaged if it accidentally knocked into something. So if someone has some ideas of what could be wrong and how much it will cost if it can be fix i would appreciate it, thanks.

Confused about Metering and Auto Focus on Nikon Cameras?

I've been looking up stuff how to use my camera and I'm quite confused about metering and autofocus.

I know that matrix mode, takes into consideration of light in the frame of the photo and center-weighted is considering the center of the photo and spot is for a single dot in the center.

I'm confused on how do you use the metering, is it automatic do I have to half press a button for it to activate? Do can I use it in manual, aperture priority mode? Also when the Nikon camera focuses automatically will it meter the light or something along with focusing?

How to use flash on a camera properly?

Here's a picture of my attempt at bohek photography of a dead flower.

It was on 105mm at 1/10s, F/5.8, ISO 400, EV -2.0, Flash EV -1.0
Im new at photography and I was wonder how could you get the background brighter when using flash on a Nikon D90. It seems like the flash makes the object near the camera to appear really bright compared to the background.

Nikon Lenses for Outdoor sport or day-day photographs?

What Nikon camera lenses are used to shoot the photographs of runners in Tough Mudder. I really like the bokeh and the sharpness of the people in the photos. Plus i dont see any blur which means it must be a reall y really fast lens. Any idea /recommendation please. I have a D90 if that would help.

I need motivation to make YOUTUBE videos?

Hi guys. I am a youtuber. I had a family channel with over 1K subscribers but it's very difficult to film with multiple people so I decided to begin my own show. So far my channel only has 4 videos (which are vlogs not even the real stuff) and I already have over 300 subscribers. I have thousands of followers online and I know for sure that my followers will back my new channel. I have an entire studio set up with green screen and lighting, I have good editing software and a Nikon all ready to go almost. I'm not that much of a noob I've done this for a while now. But here's the problem. Everytime I go to film I suddenly feel incredibly unmotivated to the point I haven't filmed a video yet. I have good ideas but when I walk in to my studio to shoot I get a huge wave of exhaustion almost and a strong unmotivated feeling. It's hard to film feeling that bad. I really WANT to film but I'm caught in this web of unmotivation. Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to beat this? Thanks so much!

What camera should I upgrade to? - 1

I currently have the Nikon D60, but want to upgrade. I want to keep a reasonable price range, as I am a amateur-beginner photographer. Preferably a camera with video, but if not that's alright. I prefer Nikon, but I wouldn't mind a Canon. Please help!

Nikon D1500 semi automatic settings not adjusting properly?

The dial modes A, and S (shutter speed) are semi automatic, so when you set the aperture the camera automatically adjusts the shutter speed or / and exposure to give you the best image possible, even if this doesn't always work out. When i fist got my camera it did this perfectly. However now these settings no longer self adjust. I believe i can adjust everything manually but being a beginner and in photography class i really need to use these settings and i cant figure out why they are not self adjusting, it's as if they don't exits. Not only that but however high or low i set either of these settings the picture always comes out dark, whereas on a slow shutter speed i would have thought the image would over expose if the auto settings were broken. All of the other automatic modes work, it's just the semi automatic modes. Is there a setting i have switched the camera to to result in this? Or a reset button? Or even just a clue as to why this is happening. I have checked the manual it says nothing about this. I have used these mods in plain daylight too. My photography teacher didn't seem to understand my question… Thanks!

Recommended camera for beginning hobbyist around $500?

My girlfriend and I are looking for a camera that we can use to take pictures of family and vacations that won't have blur and would be a good camera to learn basic photography techniques (using the cameras settings rather than turning the dial and hitting click.) I used my father's Canon Rebel T5i and found that it took great pictures and might be considering that, but that is the only camera I've used sans my phone's camera and I know there are, or could be, better options. I've been reading reviews on the Rebel line (t3i, t5i, slr) as well as Nikon, specially the Nikon 3300. We're looking to spend in the $350 to $600 range. I've noticed bundles that include filters, cleaning kits, additional lenses, ect. So that could come into cost if worthy and pointed in the right direction but isn't important. Any input is most appreciated.

Examples of main use:
Football games
Kids playing in the yard
Scenic opportunities - mountains, wildlife, nature (we live in Colorado haha)
Vacation moments
Hanging out with friends
Eventually I would like to take a more artistic approach to those examples, hence fourth the move from camera phone to mid range budget.

What do I need to take pictures indoors?

I'm kind of new to the photography world and teaching myself. Ive always just taken outdoor photos using natural lighting. If I I notice sometimes when it is darker out my camera (Nikon D5100) wont even take a picture because it cant find a focus. If I wanted to take pics indoors like at a wedding reception what would I need in order for my camera to takes pics with no problem and not have trouble the whole time trryying to take one picture?
